Be Creative: LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime Innovators (Grades 4–8)

Be Creative: LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime Innovators (Grades 4–8) is a multi‑week robotics journey for upper‑elementary and middle‑school students. Each participant receives their own SPIKE Prime kit, allowing them to work independently at their own pace while learning to design, build and program robots that move, sense and respond to their environment. The program begins with structured lessons that cover motors, sensors and drag‑and‑drop coding. Students build guided projects—such as delivery bots, sorting machines and weather sensors—that introduce core concepts like loops, conditionals and variables. As they gain confidence, they’re encouraged to modify these builds or invent entirely new machines, applying the engineering design process of brainstorming, prototyping, testing and refining. Throughout the course, learners explore SPIKE Prime’s programmable hub, motors and sensors, and even have the option to transition from block‑based coding to Python for more advanced control. Managing a personal kit builds responsibility and ownership, while group discussions and presentations foster collaboration and communication skills.
