Program Overview

The Fusion FTC Apprentice Program is a selective training pathway designed for students

in 8th grade and above who are serious about advancing into competitive robotics. This

program prepares students for potential placement on Fusion’s FTC Competition Team

#18142. Placement into the official FTC competition roster is NOT guaranteed and

depends on performance, availability, and team needs.

• Mechanical Design & Robot Systems

• Java-Based FTC Programming

• CAD Design (Onshape / Fusion 360)

• Game Strategy & Match Analysis

• Engineering Notebook & Documentation

• Outreach & Presentation Skills

• Team Collaboration & Leadership

 

Evaluation Criteria

Students are evaluated based on attendance, reliability, technical growth, initiative,

problem-solving ability, leadership maturity, and team culture fit.

 

Pathway to Competition Team

Apprentices may be invited to join the official FTC roster based on demonstrated

competency, consistent commitment, mentor evaluation, and team roster availability.

Admission into the competition team is earned, not automatic.

 

Commitment Expectations

Regular attendance, independent work ethic, professional behavior, respect for team

standards, and participation in outreach activities when assigned are required.

 

Eligibility

• 8th Grade and Above

• Prior robotics experience preferred

• Application required •
